Club Facilities Print E-mail

The Ski Club is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a number of facilities, including the main chalet (also known as the Yellowknife Ski Club and Elks Youth Centre), the biathlon building, the Banting Lake Tent, and equipment shed.  In addition, the Club oversees the rental of the main chalet to organizations and individuals (see Chalet Rental).

The chalet is open to Club members from 10am to 3:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays, from 7:30pm to 9pm on Wednesday, and most holiday times during the ski season. The wax room is available to ski club members when the chalet is open.  Please remember to unplug all irons!

Keep watch for trail grooming activities in the evenings, especially on Monday nights when groomers are getting the inner trails (particularly the lit portion of  snowflake trail) ready for the week's ski activities.  The track needs to "set" for a few hours after the groomers have done their work; otherwise, skiing on the freshly set track will not allow the grooves to harden and be durable for many skiers.

The Banting Lake Tent is available to Club members through a first-come, first-serve booking arrangement maintained by volunteers.

Check out the Map to the Ski Club if you need to know how to get here.

Holiday Hours - Dec 20 to Jan 4 (10am-4pm)

Effective Dec 20 to Jan 4, the Ski Club chalet will be open daily from 10 am until 4 pm, except for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.  The building will not be open if temperatures are -30C or below.  Evening access will resume when regular scheduling starts up again on Jan 5, 2009.
